  • Cyclic fatty acids:  hydnocarpic acid (47.56%), chaulmoogric acid (30.15%), gorlic acid (11.81%)

Fatty acid composition - gas phase chromatography of batch 19HV0213:

  • Saturated fatty acids (AGS): palmitic acid (3.25%),
  • Cyclic fatty acids:  hydnocarpic acid (47.56%), chaulmoogric acid (30.15%), gorlic acid (11.81%)

  • Cyclic fatty acids:  hydnocarpic acid (48.96%), chaulmoogric acid (30.53%), gorlic acid (11.92%)
  • Zoom on cyclic fatty acids: hydnocarpic acid, chaulmoogric acid, and gorlic acid are very specific fatty acids, having a cyclopentenic structure. These rare fatty acids characteristic of Chaulmoogra are responsible for the extraordinary properties of this oil, in particular its anti-mycobacterial and anti-bacterial action.
