Bergamot is part of the citrus family and an old hybrid between a lemon and bitter orange. It is grown mostly in southern Italy and has an elegant scent with tart and sweet facets with floral and spicy undertones. It is a quintessential ingredient in colognes and an ideal oil to freshen a room.

Composition

Main biochemical constituents - Gas phase chromatography of lot 19HE0081 :

  • Monoterpenes:  limonene (33.99%),  gamma-terpinene (7.93%), beta-pinene (8.97%),
  • Monoterpenes:  linalool (13.87%)
  • Terpene esters:  linalyl acetate (28.42%)

  • Monoterpenes:  limonene (38.39%) , gamma-terpinene (6.86%), beta-pinene (7.56%),

Furocoumarin content :

  • Bergapten 5 MOP: concentration below 10 ppm

Storage conditions
Store this essential oil in the refrigerator, in its tightly closed amber glass bottle. This essential oil is sensitive to oxidation favored by exposure to light, ambient air, and heat.

Precautions

- Not recommended in the first 3 months of pregnancy and in children under 7 years of age.

- In high doses, it may cause irritation on the skin. Incorporates up to 2% in your cosmetic preparation or "homemade" massage oil.
- Certain natural compounds contained in this essential oil can present a risk of allergy in certain sensitive people when the essential oil is incorporated in a cosmetic composition: limonene and, to a lesser extent, linalool, citral (general and geranial).

- As a general rule, always make an application test of your preparation in the bend of the elbow, at least 48 hours before using it.
